Our Program
"Education is the cultivation of wisdom and virtue through the study of the True, the Good, and the Beautiful, in order to develop fully formed human beings."
- Martin Cothran

Mission
Via Fellowship exists to build a close-knit community where teens and their families form lasting connections with other Jesus-loving families. Together we study the Word of God, read the Great Books, learn Latin, and hone our communication skills through speech and apologetics—so that our children may grow in wisdom, virtue, and eloquence.

Philosophy
Education is discipleship – Proverbs 22:6 says, "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." – and enculturates us into society. It shapes what we love, how we think, and who we become.
At Via Fellowship, we walk in the classical tradition because it focuses on the highest things: Truth, goodness, and beauty. We begin with Christ because all learning takes its meaning from Him. He is the Word at the center of language, the Wisdom at the heart of philosophy, and the Truth toward which every worthy question reaches.
We believe in a way of learning that is both rigorous and restful, a rhythm of study called scholé, where mastery unfolds through contemplation, not hurry. We take our time with each subject, allowing space to sit with truth and let it shape us.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Via?
Via Fellowship is a small, classical Christian co-op for homeschooling families in the San Gabriel Valley. We gather twice weekly for intentional formation in Latin, literature, apologetics, and speech, all grounded in Scripture and the pursuit of wisdom, virtue, and eloquence.
What ages do we serve?
We primarily serve teens, ages 13–18. That said, we currently have a few younger siblings (9-12) and are developing a sibling track for them, so younger are welcome as long as they are mature enough to participate in a teen-focused environment. Even younger siblings are always welcome too, we have some toddlers always running around somewhere, we welcome all the stages of life.
What classes do we offer?
We offer classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You are able to participate in both days or just one, as long as you meet all requirements to take that class. You must participate in all classes on a given day. (So if you want to do Latin you must do Literature, and vice versa.)
Tuesdays: Latin, Literature & Vinea
Wednesdays: Apologetics and Speech & Vinea
What are the costs and commitments?
Via Fellowship is a true cooperative: tuition is free, but participation is high. Because we keep costs low through shared effort, we need moms who are excited to invest their time and energy alongside academics.
Expected Costs
-
Books and personal materials for classes (varies by student)
-
Stoa annual family membership ($100 if registered before September 30th; required for tournament participation)
-
Optional fees for field trips, tournament registrations, or other activities you choose to join
Family Commitments
We ask every family to:
-
Have a mom physically present for all classes
-
Participate in the weekly snack rotation
-
Volunteer at the 1–2 speech tournaments we host each year (parents typically help with judging, timing, setup, or hospitality as students compete)
-
Contribute to the life of the fellowship in other ways as needs arise
We especially welcome moms who are willing to take the lead on planning occasional field trips or outside activities, or who would enjoy managing the snack schedule. This shared stewardship is what allows our small fellowship to thrive with joy and excellence.
Because we are intentionally small and relational, we look for families who view the co-op not just as classes, but as a community where iron sharpens iron.
